Everything You Need to Know About Hoop for rhythmic Gymnastics
Hoop for rhythmic Gymnastics
HOOP SIZE
Among hoops for rhythmic gymnastics, there is a gradation by 5 centimeters in diameter (from 55 to 90). To determine which diameter is suitable for the gymnast, you need to measure the distance from the floor to the navel. This will be the optimal and maximum size of the hoop. It should be borne in mind that manufacturers measure hoops by the inner diameter, which means the outer diameter will be 3-4 centimeters larger.
To participate in international competitions, athletes over 15 years of age will need a hoop with a diameter of 85-90 cm, weighing 280-300 grams, and with the mandatory marking "F.I.G. Approved", which means that the item is approved by the International Gymnastics Federation.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HOOP FOR rhythmic GYMNASTICS AND A REGULAR HOOP
A professional hoop for rhythmic gymnastics is made of specially durable plastic, which is very difficult to bend, let alone break. Such equipment will last quite a long time. Moreover, it can be repaired and training quality will not be affected in any way.
STORAGE
To ensure that the equipment lasts a long time, it is necessary to properly care for and store it.
The gymnastic hoop is designed to work on the carpet, and when in contact with rough surfaces, whether it be asphalt, walls, or any other foreign objects, the hoop can be damaged.
The surface of the hoop scratches quite quickly, so when transporting it, it is carried in a cover. There are two types of covers: a hoop and a bag, where you can also put other gymnastic items. It is imperative to use a cover, as during movement, the sticky tape will peel off and dust will accumulate underneath, making the ring dirty.

It is also not worth overheating the hoop, as high temperatures can deform it, and the plastic, in turn, when solidifying, retains its softened shape and becomes crooked.
It is also desirable to store the apparatus horizontally, as vertical storage can lead to deformation.

WRAPPING FOR THE HOOP
-
The wrapping of the hoop for rhythmic gymnastics serves not only an aesthetic function but also helps to protect the item from any deformations. After all, plastic products are highly susceptible to shape changes, and a bent ring will be unsuitable for performance.
The wrapping adds additional weight to the hoop, and such a weighted hoop will fly higher after a throw and will not glide, which means it will fall in the intended place. At major competitions, there is control over the weight of the hoops: if it is lighter or heavier than the norms, the athlete may not be allowed to perform.
The wrapping is intended not only for the hoop but also for the clubs.
After wrapping the hoop, it is advisable to go over it with special tape so that the colored wrapping maintains integrity longer. If necessary, the tape can be replaced, and the wrapping will also maintain its appearance.
One wrapping is enough even for the largest hoop; however, the wrapping process should be entrusted to an experienced person, as the wrapping should be stretched well to cover the entire hoop.
Wrappings from different companies differ in the degree of stretchiness as well as the thickness of the material.
